Introduction - This blog has been created to support a very important cause. I created a non-profit organization entitled "Mom's Who Care" to create a support network for parents looking to help their children have a healthier lifestyle.
My now 9-year old son was considered "obese" three years ago by pediatric standards. As a mom, I didn't see an obese child and I would say things like, "he is solid" or "he is a big guy". When the note came home from the school nurse after all of the kindergartners had their BMI assessed, it was a rude awakening.
I started to look for solutions, and with every group or organization I contacted, I was met with questions...are you a nutritionist, a nurse, a personal trainer? I would always answer, "no, I'm just a mom who cares!" Each time I made that simple statement, a desire to improve the health and wellness of all children grew inside of me.
I now get out to as many schools, mom's groups, parent/teacher organizations and anyone else who will listen to me talk about the importants of getting plenty of fruits and vegtables and daily activity into their life.
I am an instructor for the Nemours 5.2.1.Almost None program and I work dilligently to promote this everyday in my home and in my community. This blog will come to you to let you know what I am doing and when I am doing it. Hopefully it will inspire you to improve your life through fitness and nutrition.
